The Outside Brick Walk Project was initiated in 2012 by a group of students from Hope High School. Bricks were partially laid in 2014 and the project remained incomplete until the 2024-2025 school year when two students from Hope High, Jair Arroyo and Ivan Sanchez, took the initiative to revitalize this project. Our primary objective, which remains unchanged, is to establish a sidewalk leading to the flagpole. The purpose of the personalized bricks is to honor loved ones and recognize alumni and educators of Hope High School. Our plan involves producing new bricks to replace the existing ones currently installed outdoors and sell more personalized bricks to the general public. The bricks are currently engraved using the Glowforge. Initially, we faced a learning curve with using the Glowforge. We had to learn how much speed and power was needed to engrave the bricks. We also had to balance the time needed to complete the bricks with the number of bricks we needed to complete; however, we dedicated time to watch numerous instructional videos to understand the process effectively. Our next step includes meeting with a community partner who will help us with the design and determining how many bricks we need to sell to complete the sidewalk.
