The community of Dardanelle Arkansas is very rich in agriculture. We have a non-profit called the McElroy house in our town that wanted to reach our Hispanic population, which is rapidly growing. The solution was to create seed packets with instructions in both English and Spanish that are passed out at the local Farmer's Market. To add on to this project, students worked with an experienced farmer who is bilingual and held workshops on how to use the seed packets demonstrating in both English and Spanish. Students received donated seeds from local farmers as well as local co-ops. They created the instructions and printed them in both English and Spanish and took the zip lock baggies to create seed packets to be distributed to our community. It was a big hit and will be an ongoing project for years to come.
