THE ORIGIN - After brainstorming issues in our school and our community, our team member Luke brought up the issue of community service and came up with the idea of creating an app/website to help students track volunteer hours that are required for graduation.
THE ISSUE - As of last year, classes of 2027 and beyond are required to complete at least 75 service hours. However, many students lack an efficient way to find nearby opportunities and track their progress. Without a proper system in place, hours can be misreported or forgotten, and finding service opportunities is difficult, making it confusing and difficult for students to meet the requirement.
THE SOLUTION - Servescout is an website and app that helps students find local community service opportunities and accurately track their hours. By providing a standard platform, students
can easily meet the new requirements without confusion.
