At White Hall Middle School, one of the band teachers contacted the Middle School EAST facilitator to request assistance from a project group in EAST regarding the 3D printing of a stabilizer/prosthetic. This stabilizer/prosthetic is for a sixth grader who is missing an arm. In response, students Ava Estess, Kennedi Dancy, and Tenley Rodriguez volunteered to contribute to the development of this prosthetic. They promptly began working on the project; however, they encountered a challenge when the 3D printer malfunctioned, resulting in insufficient filament and limited time for production. In light of this, the Middle School EAST facilitator, Sydney Adair, reached out to other facilitators for support. Shortly thereafter, the facilitator from the J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center responded and offered assistance with the printing process. They held a call to provide guidance on resolving the issue. Since then, the group of students has continued their printing efforts and even showcased their project during EAST Night Out.
