Superintendent Dr. Lloyd Jackson approached EAST students Brayden Shelton, Adine Stine, and Troy Spencer about creating a green space for Stateline in conjunction with Leadership Texarkana. The students met with Dr. Jackson and got all the details, then began their designs. Brayden chose to work with Blender, learning by watching tutorials. Adine worked with Tinkercad. Troy designed his in SketchUp. All three came up with different, but distinct designs to show Dr. Jackson.
After the second meeting with Dr. Jackson, they were tasked to research vegetation that would thrive in our area. They began making lists and doing research. Adin contacted a local Master Gardener and she gave him lots of tips.
Dr. Jackson wanted the students to see the property in person, so they took a little field trip! The students took photos, talked more with him, and even gathered soil samples.
This project is still in the early planning stages and the students are excited and work on it daily. They are growing as EAST students and young men. Brayden, Adin, and Troy are working well as a team and also dividing up tasks to take care of on their own.
