EAST Offering Drone License Training

The EAST Initiative will offer a limited number of day-long workshops designed to prepare EAST facilitators for the Remote Pilot Certificate Test, a required licence for flying drones.

“In the past, we have seen schools create many projects built around using drones to serve their communities. However, current FAA regulations require certification for drone use, even in some educational settings. We have arranged these training opportunities in order to allow EAST classrooms to continue using drones in compliance with current regulations,” said Reuben Canada, Director of Information Technology for the EAST Initiative.

Workshop Dates:

  • Nov. 17, 2017 (registration deadline: Nov. 1, 2017)
  • Jan. 12, 2018 (registration deadline: Dec. 22, 2017)
  • April 6, 2018 (registration deadline: March 16, 2018)

All three test preparation workshops will be held at the EAST Initiative offices, 6215 Ranch Drive in Little Rock. They will be lead by Brandon Guillot, owner of Unmanned Aerial Solutions of Arkansas. Each workshop is limited to 25 participants, who must be EAST facilitators. Facilitators can view training dates and register here. The cost to attend is $200, which must be paid by the registration deadline. It covers instruction, training materials and a textbook.
