Representative David Rainey of Dumas took a moment out of his and the Arkansas House of Representatives busy schedule to recognize three students from Dumas EAST who were selected to screen their film at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

EAST Initiative Announces 2009 EAST Conference Award Winners

The EAST Initiative (www.EASTinitiative.org) presented Arkansas’s Centerpoint High School with the organization’s 2009 Founder’s Award this week during the 2009 EAST Conference. It is the tenth year of the event and the fourth consecutive year, the Arkansas-based initiative held its annual conference in Hot Springs.
Brinkley High School EAST Receives GreenWorks! grant

Brinkley High School EAST recently received a $941.00 GreenWorks! grant from Project Learning Tree (PLT), an award-winning national environmental education program for educators and their students in grades PreK-12.
Farrington High School EAST Receives $50,000.00 Grant

Island Insurance Company, Ltd., through its Foundation, has provided $50,000 to Farrington High School in matching funds provided by Governor Lingle and the State Legislature for the expansion of the Project EAST program to Oahu.
Macomb High School Receives Grant

Sylvan Hills EAST Student Receives National Recognition

Daniel Johnson, a senior EAST student from Sylvan Hills High School has been awarded the Prudential Spirit of Community Award honoring outstanding community service by young Americans as a result of his involvement in the Arkansas Cemetery Mapping Project (an EAST project) and his work with the Director of Veterans Affairs for the State of Arkansas
Brinkley High School EAST Recognized by Monroe County Foundation

Brinkley High School EAST recently received a grant from the Monroe County Foundation. The 'Violent Vortex' team will use the funds to purchase materials to help students feel more comfortable and safer in the event of evacuation to the schools emergency shelter.
